Want to go beyond simply serving?
Every academic year, we select a limited number of students to go above and beyond the standard requirements of service-learning. Positions are available with some of our approved community partners for students qualified for Federal Work Study. Or represent the service-learning program and the university as one of our chosen Service Ambassadors; you can enhance your organizational and leadership skills by helping individuals and student organizations to plan co-curricular service activities.
Work Study Opportunities
The Office of Service-Learning & Civic Engagement currently has the opportunity to hire Federal Work Study (FWS) students and place them with an approved Community Partner Agency. Through these opportunities, you will be able to earn your Work Study funds while gaining real-world work experience.

Service Ambassador Program
The Service Ambassador (SA) program has been designed to assist students and student organizations with the creation of and participation in co-curricular service activities. The service activities will happen outside of the classroom and therefore will not be attached to any specific curriculum. Instead, these activities will be designed to educate students on general social issues in Southwest Florida, engage them in active, participatory events with others, and provide them the tools they need to continue service independently. All Service Ambassador Events will be planned by student leaders (SAs) and fall under one of the following categories or “Impact Areas”:
- Disability Services
- Hunger and Homelessness Services
- Youth Empowerment Services
