The office of Student Care Services was established in 2018.
Dr. Daniel Hoover, Ed.D
Assistant Dean, Student Care Services
Daniel rejoined to Florida Gulf Coast University in 2018. In his return to FGCU, he
served as the Case Manager for Student Affairs before moving into his current role.
As the Assistant Dean for Student Care Services, he provide vision and leadership
with the goal to develop a holistic approach to ensure student health and safety,
personal development, and overall well-being. Daniel chairs the Behavioral Assessment
and Consultation (BCAT) a multidisciplinary committee that functions to address students
of concern and behavioral intervention.
Daniel has served as the Director Of Student Conduct & Greek Affairs at Marist College
and a Conduct Coordinator at FGCU. Prior to those positions, Daniel held positions
in Housing & Residence Life at the College of William & Mary, Elmhurst College, and
the University of Kansas.
Daniel earned his doctorate from the College of William & Mary in educational policy,
planning, and leadership (research interest involving Division III student-athletes).
He earned a Master’s degree in higher education administration from the University
of Kansas, and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Coe College. Daniel is a member of both the Higher Education Case Managers Association (HECMA), National
Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (NABITA), and National
Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).
Marina Potter, M.A.
Coordinator, Student Care Services
Marina recently joined Florida Gulf Coast University in 2022. She has previous experience in Academic Advising, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Student Conduct, and First-Year Teaching. As the Student Care Coordinator, she is excited to use her knowledge and background in student affairs to holistically support and guide students. Marina’s goal is to promote student’s autonomy and interdependence, while ensuring they are equipped with the resources necessary to transition through their college experience.
Marina has earned her Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel from Bowling Green State University (BGSU), and a Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Tourism, and Event Management from BGSU. Marina is a member of Higher Education Case Managers Association (HECMA) and National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (NABITA).
