FGCU Orthopedic Residency Program

Central to the mission of the Post-Graduate Orthopedic Residency program is the mission and goals of Florida Gulf Coast University and the Marieb College of Health & Human Services. Reflective of this, the residency program is designed to build on the skills learned in the DPT program. The program allows the novice physical therapists to advance their knowledge, clinical reasoning and handling skills to better meet the patient's needs and to improve patient outcomes.

During this 11-month residency program, the residents become very proficient in the clinical reasoning and clinical decision-making process within the evidence-based practice management model. The program is divided in both an academic and clinical component. You will be working as a PT in one of the program's affiliated sites under the supervision of a clinical mentor. Additionally, to this you will be academically active. You will have to complete 12 credit hours of course work divided over three semesters.

Eligible applicants must have graduated from a CAPTE accredited Physical Therapy degree program, and hold a current physical therapy license in the US. Interested applicants should contact Rob Sillevis for an individualized plan of study. This 11-month Residency program is designed to be a distant learning format, which is combined with three whole weeks on campus.
