FGCU Emergency Management Advisory

Sept. 27, 2022 | FGCU is canceling all classes and non-essential campus activities Thursday and Friday. FGCU leaders will evaluate methods for students to make up for lost instructional time, which will likely include the use of planned study dates as regular academic class. Please expect updates to the academic calendar once we return to normal operations. For storm updates, visit fgcu.edu/emergencymanagement.

FGCU Graduation

Records & Registration Graduation Information

Graduation and commencement are two separate activities and have different requirements, processes and deadlines.

As you complete your academic journey, students apply to graduate in order to receive their degree and diploma.

By submitting an Application to Graduate, your college or school is notified that you plan to complete your degree requirements in a specific term. This allows the staff of your college or school to begin evaluating your degree requirements in preparation for graduation. Graduation indicates you have met all degree requirements, your college or school has confirmed this, and your degree has been posted to your student record.  Commencement is the celebratory event which recognizes our graduating students.

Graduating Students - Don't Forget:

Please update your contact information so we can share information after graduation. Updating your information through the Alumni office does not automatically update your information through Records & Registration.  Obtain a Change of Address and/or Change of Name Form on the Records & Registration website.

Important Note:

Graduation and Commencement are two separate functions.  You must apply to graduate in order to receive your degree and diploma; however you are not required to physically attend Commencement.  If you do plan on attending Commencement, you must follow the registration process that will be communicated to graduation applicants via Eagle email.  Due to growing demand and limited space, it is necessary to strictly adhere to deadlines concerning participation in FGCU Commencements. Your cooperation is needed to ensure you do not miss this opportunity!
