Modified Program in Educational Leadership

Program Overview

fgcu student teaching a high school student

Program (MLP)leads to a Florida Educational Leadership Certificate (no degree is conferred by FGCU). Students who already have a master’s degree may elect to follow the modified program of study based on the results of a FLDOE Statement of Eligibility (SoE) they receive.

The State of Florida DOE requires that all programs meet the new state standards for Educational Leadership. The minimum required courses are the two Internships in Educational Leadership (6 credit hours). The student’s program of study will be individualized based on the SoE. These  will be selected from the courses required in the M.Ed. program in Educational Leadership that provide the student with the required state competencies.

This program of study must be approved in advance of admission by the student’s advisor. Program completion also requires a final portfolio that will be assessed and defended based on the state standards in Educational Leadership and the student passing grade on all portions of the Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE).
