Program Overview
Modified Program leads to a Florida Educational Leadership Certificate (no degree
is conferred by FGCU). Students who already have a master’s degree may elect to follow
the modified program of study as noted in the link below.
Students who have a Master’s degree in another field and wish to qualify for state DOE certification in Educational Leadership. The state requires all programs meet the new state standards for Educational Leadership. The only required course is EDA 6945 Internship in Educational Leadership (6 credit hours). The remaining credit hours in a student’s program of study will be individualized based on previous completed coursework. These hours will be selected from those courses required in the M.Ed. program in Educational Leadership that provide the student with the required state competencies.
This program of study must be approved by the student’s advisor. Program completion also requires a final portfolio that will be assessed based on the state standards in Educational Leadership and a passing grade on all portions of the Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE).
Due to the fact that these students already have a masters' degree in another area, NO MAT or GRE is REQUIRED for entrance
