Symphony Orchestra & Chamber Strings
The Symphony Orchestra & Chamber Strings are lead and conducted by Dr. Kyle Szabo.
Chamber ensembles such as string quartets are available to music majors and minors by audition. The Bower String Quartet performs frequently on and off campus, and is comprised of the principal string players in the Symphony Orchestra. Other ensembles might include string trios and piano quartets.
Symphony Orchestra is a large, auditioned ensemble performing standard symphonic literature. Students
of all majors are eligible to participate. Regular collaborations with FGCU choral
ensembles include an annual holiday concert and major works such as Mozart’s Requiem and Handel’s Messiah.

Chamber Strings ensemble is open to students by audition. The Chamber Strings ensemble frequently
tours off campus, and was a featured guest ensemble in Tampa at the 2018 FMEA All-State
Convention. This versatile ensemble performs works ranging from Baroque masterpieces
with period instruments to contemporary works by living composers.

Bach Brandenberg Concerto No. 3
FGCU Philharmonia is a new on-campus orchestra open to students, faculty, staff and the community. The full-orchestral ensemble will meet on Tuesday evenings at the Bower School of Music and perform twice during the year. Auditions for seating placement will be held in August.
