Welcome, we’re delighted that you’re interested in the Bower School of Music at Florida Gulf Coast University! We encourage you to visit our website, www.fgcu.edu/music to learn more about our music faculty, degree programs, and auditions.

The music program at Florida Gulf Coast University is a Limited Access Program. All applicants must complete the FGCU application as well as the Bower School of Music supplemental application via Acceptd and schedule an audition. 

All voice and piano applicants must submit prescreen videos
before the prescreen deadline and, if approved, audition.


Prescreening requirements are the same as audition requirements.

Transfer students will audition on Friday, November 5, 2021 for Spring 2022 admittance

Prescreen Deadline: October 1st for voice and piano applicants     
Application closes on October 25th 
All voice and piano applicants must submit prescreening videos before Friday, October 1, 2021. Confirmation emails and invitations will be sent as soon as possible after a review of your prescreen. Do not make travel arrangements until you receive your confirmation. If you're denied advancing to the audition you may apply again for fall 2022 admittance. If denied after your second attempt, you are no longer eligible to apply. Non prescreen applicants must apply before application closes on October 25th. 

 

Incoming freshman and transfer students will audition on February 12th or March 19th (for scholarship consideration) for Fall 2022 admittance:

Prescreen Deadline: January 7th for voice and piano applicants
Application closes on January 31st
All voice and piano applicants must submit prescreening videos before Friday, January 7, 2022. Confirmation emails and invitations will be sent as soon as possible after a review of your prescreen. Do not make travel arrangements until you receive your confirmation. If you're denied advancing to the audition you may apply again for spring 2022 admittance. If denied after your second attempt, you are no longer eligible to apply. Non prescreen applicants must apply before application closes on January 31st.

Prescreen Deadline: February 4th for voice and piano applicants
Application closes on March 7th
All voice and piano applicants must submit prescreening videos before Friday, February 4, 2022. Confirmation emails and invitations will be sent as soon as possible after a review of your prescreen. Do not make travel arrangements until you receive your confirmation. If you're denied advancing to the audition you may apply again for spring 2022 admittance. If denied after your second attempt, you are no longer eligible to apply. Non prescreen applicants must apply before application closes on March 7th.

Prescreen Deadline: March 4th for voice and piano applicants
Application closes on March 28th

All voice and piano applicants must submit prescreening videos before Friday, March 4, 2022. Confirmation emails and invitations will be sent as soon as possible after a review of your prescreen. Do not make travel arrangements until you receive your confirmation. If you're denied advancing to the audition you may apply again for spring 2022 admittance. If denied after your second attempt, you are no longer eligible to apply. Non prescreen applicants must apply before application closes on March 28th. 

 

Please be aware that a successful audition does not guarantee admittance to Florida Gulf Coast University. Likewise, admittance to Florida Gulf Coast University does not guarantee admittance to the Bower School of Music.

 

The audition process consists of a vocal, instrumental or piano performance, sight reading on your instrument or voice, taking the Music Theory Diagnostic Exam or Transfer Music Theory Placement Exam, and taking the Class Piano Placement Exam if you listed four or more years of piano lessons or you’re a transfer student that has taken Class Piano on the college level.
