Dr. Tony A. Barringer
Dr. Tony A. Barringer currently serves as Associate Provost/Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs. Over his tenure at Florida Gulf Coast University, he has also served as Interim Dean, Associate Dean, and Division Chair. Prior to joining FGCU in 1997, he taught at the College of Lake County and Southeast Missouri State University. He has over twenty years of practical experience in criminal justice and has taught in higher education nearly as long.
Dr. Barringer has presented nationally and internationally, served as a consultant to the Bulgarian Ministry of Justice, and, because of the impact of his research and practice, served as a guest discussant at the Florida Department of Corrections’ Re-entry Summit. He has acted as Principal or Co-Principal Investigator for approximately $1 million in funded state and federal grants in juvenile justice and wraparound services and has published widely on the subject of minorities’ experiences with the criminal justice system. Dr. Barringer earned a B.S. in Criminal Justice and a M.S. in Public Administration from Southeast Missouri State University and a doctorate from Northern Illinois University.
In his current capacity, Dr. Barringer assists with the faculty promotion process, coordinates the annual faculty promotion workshop, serves as liaison with campus promotion committees, helps coordinate new faculty orientation, coordinate efforts to recruit and retain underrepresented faculty, coordinates the sabbatical review process handles the grievance process within Academic Affairs, prepares responses to memoranda, assists with performance improvement plans with colleges, oversees the annual update of the electronic faculty resource guide, represents FGCU on various university committees and central administration projects and serves on the FGCU bargaining team.
Tracie Beck is the Executive Assistant to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. She is responsible for providing high-level administrative assistance to the Provost, including managing the Provost's calendar and commitments; acting as the liaison to trustees, Cabinet, deans, department directors, faculty, staff, and students; preparing travel arrangements; and coordinating Academic Affairs' Annual Celebration of Excellence Ceremony.
Tracie is originally from Coal Center, Pennsylvania, and has been at FGCU since 2016; before coming to the Administrative side of the University, she previously worked as the Administrative Assistant for FGCU's Honors College, and was previously Director of the Internship Center at California University of Pennsylvania, where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Studies with a Minor in Leadership Studies.
Kelly Boyd is the Administrative Assistant for the Office of the Provost and Vice
President for Academic Affairs. She is responsible for managing the daily operations
for the Office of Academic Affairs, including management of correspondence, assistance
with maintaining schedules/calendars, courtesy faculty requests, sabbatical applications,
professional development leave requests, maintains faculty files, and greeting and
directing visitors. In addition, she provides administrative support for the Director
of Operations for Academic Affairs and the Associate Provost.
Kelly is originally from Gaithersburg, Maryland and relocated to Florida in 2007;
she joined Florida Gulf Coast University in 2019. Before coming to FGCU, she spent
28 years in the banking industry. After retiring from banking, she began her second
career as an OPS employee in the Payroll Department at FGCU in April 2019, and then
joined Academic Affairs in July of 2019.
Andi Clemons
Andrea "Andi" Clemons is the Director of Operations for Academic Affairs. Ms. Clemons provides operational leadership within the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs, and also contributes to the development and implementation of organizational initiatives that support the strategic goals and objectives of the division. She is responsible for management of the Provost's budget and has oversight for Academic Affairs' financial activities and internal controls. In addition, she coordinates the academic appointments, faculty promotion process, sabbatical, and courtesy faculty appointments within the Provost's office. Andi serves as the liaison with other academic administration staff, University Budgets, and Human Resources to ensure the most efficient use of resources in addition to assisting with the facilitation of faculty/staff searches and hiring processes within the Division of Academic Affairs.
Andi joined Florida Gulf Coast University and the Office of the Provost in January of 2017. Prior to joining FGCU, her experiences included working in Financial Aid, Administrative Services, and Student Affairs. She has over 10 years of experience in Higher Education in both the private and public sectors. Andi holds a Bachelor's degree in Art from The College of Mount Saint Joseph and Masters of Arts in Integrated Studies with a focus on women's leadership from Northern Kentucky University.
Kristin Toth
Kristin Toth is the Office Assistant for the Office of the Provost and Academic Affairs. She is responsible for maintaining faculty files, completing data entry, assisting with Courtesy Faculty requests, delegating incoming mail, as well as assisting with the promotion, sabbatical, and professional development leave processes. In addition, she provides administrative support to the Collective Bargaining Team.
Kristin is from Port Charlotte, Florida, and relocated to Fort Myers when she began as a student at FGCU. She graduated in May 2021 from FGCU with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology. She joined the Academic Affairs team in 2018.
