Welcome to Workday! The long-awaited transition from paper-based to electronic processes is now a reality for FGCU. Workday provides access to a wealth of real-time data, processes and reports; faculty and staff will use it to maintain personal information, enter time, complete expense reports, hire personnel, and much more. This is an exciting time as we continue to seek new ways to be the best we can be!

Why is FGCU moving to Workday?
In 2015 FGCU Administrative Services leadership began to research replacing Banner Financials, Human Resources and Student systems fueled by frustration with lack of new features, training, and declining support.
Over the next three years, the business case was built by documenting current and future processes and identifying the gaps. The benefits and risks of moving from Banner to a new Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system were identified.
In 2018 FGCU received approval to post a solicitation to select a new ERP system. A solicitation was issued, demonstrations were conducted and after evaluation, Workday was selected. FGCU then issued a solicitation to select an implementation partner, and after demonstrations and evaluations, Sierra-Cedar, Inc./Accenture was selected. Sierra-Cedar/Accenture has been working with the FGCU Workday team on the implementation since July 1, 2019, when FGCU officially kicked off the Workday project. Finance, Payroll and Human Capital Management (HCM) are scheduled to go live in July 2020; Student will follow.
How will Workday impact us on a daily basis?
Everyone will use Workday. For faculty, staff and student employees Workday will provide easy access to all FGCU employee information. For faculty chairs and administrative staff, it will provide greatly enhanced access to budget information, expenditures, and available funds. For all users it will offer new and advanced reporting features and data analysis opportunities. Workday will have the greatest impact on staff working in the areas of Human Resources, Finance and Payroll, who will gain improvements in abilities to process and access data for the FGCU community.
When implemented in a few more years, the Workday Student platform will offer new capabilities for course enrollment, student advising, financial aid, and student access to personal data.
How will we learn to use Workday?
In early December the Workday Project Team spoke personally with 60 employees and distributed a campus-wide survey, to which 288 employees responded. Based on your input from these two efforts the team will provide instructor-led classroom sessions, on-demand videos, drop-in labs, the Workday website, and this newsletter, both before and after Workday goes live.
