Faculty Writing Partners

During the first semester, the partners will do the following:

• Meet at least one time to formulate a strategy and a timeline for reaching the desired outcome,
• Decide on a workshop topic (to be hosted by the Composition faculty in-class, or as a module in an online or hybrid course), and
• Complete the assignment/rubric (re)design.

During the second semester, the new writing element will be introduced to students in the course, and the partners will do the following:

• Meet at least once to calibrate evaluation of student work on the assignment that the partners worked on, and
• Deploy the workshop (in class or online) in the course.

Non-Composition faculty members will earn a $250 stipend upon completion of the partnership.

No problem. We will work with you on strategies for implementing the partnership in any type of course.

No. The Composition faculty member may help you become comfortable evaluating student writing in a new assignment or with a new rubric, but you are responsible for grading your students' work.

Yes. If you would like to partner with someone in particular, include the faculty member's name in your application.

You should select a schedule that ends on the semester that includes the course you are working on with your partner. For example, if you want to deploy a new assignment in spring, you would choose a fall-spring schedule. That gives you the fall semester to plan and begin the work, and the spring to deploy, fine-tune, and evaluate.
