The Department offers the Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and the Masters of Public Administration (MPA) degree. We also offer a Political Science and Peace & Social Justice minors, and certificates in Planning and Local Government Management. The BA program in Political Science is designed to provide students with the analytical tools needed to address local, regional, state and national public policy issues, as well as to achieve their career objectives.

A degree in Political Science can aid student’s career pursuits in local, state, national, and international government, research, and lobbying for business and non-profit organizations, and public interest work for community service organizations. The degree also provides an excellent foundation for students who intend to pursue graduate study in law, public administration or public policy.

The MPA program is offered largely online to accommodate those students working in the public or non-profit sectors. The program provides concentrations in environmental policy, management, and general public administration.

The program is supported by an active External Relations Council who assist in keeping our courses relevant and important to the community. In July of 2008 the MPA program was accredited, for a period of seven years, by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration.

The mission of the Department of Political Science and Public Administration is to contribute to effective policy-making and administration in the public sector, as well as to advance knowledge about government and politics at the local, state, national, and international levels. The Department's faculty members pursue this mission through quality teaching, scholarship, and community service.
